Hello !
What did you think about your Free Report…”5 Signs That Indicate Potty Training Readiness and Why Pull-Ups Will Sabotage Your Success”? I hope you learned something that will help you as you potty train your child! When you pick up the Potty Party Method book, I go into even more detail about signs that indicate potty training readiness!
So, ‘fess up! Did you think using Pull-Ups would help you along this potty training journey? Well, as you read in the report, and it needs repeating, there is really only one scenario in which Pull-Ups are ok…and that is when there is a chance that your newly potty trained child might fall asleep.
If you are going on a trip, or even out and about for the day, and your child might fall asleep in the car, then putting a Pull-Up on him is ok. Or, for nap and night, when you are not yet confident that he can make it through sleep without an accident, then a Pull-Up is ok. Otherwise, leave the Pull-Ups off.
And, when you do have your child in a Pull-Up, it is NOT ok to say to him, “Well, since you have your Pull- Up on, you can just potty in your pants.” NO! YOU must treat a Pull-Up JUST LIKE regular underwear, taking your child to the bathroom frequently, and never say it’s ok for him to just go potty in his Pull-Up. He is in the middle of learning NOT to potty in his pants, ever. He will not understand if you say it’s ok since he has a Pull-Up on. Got it?! :)
Now, if he has an accident in his Pull-Up, just treat it very matter-of-factly and take care of it. No punishment, no anger. There can never be any negativity around potty training…no matter how frustrated you might be! Count to 10. Deep breath.
In your next email from me, you will learn the #1 key to potty training success! Watch for it in your inbox tomorrow!
